Ooooh Summer

Tue Jun 9, 2009, 12:39 PM
I fly through summer let the seasons change,
Drink in the sunlight; cry it out as rain,
I fly through summer let the seasons change,
How life is just a big game.
You'll see what I become, I'll see what I became, how nothing can now be the same again.

~Grammatics

The summer holidays have been upon me for a week and I've spent that week rehearsing, gigging, canoeing in the sun and generally spending time with people. Freedom is exhausting. So to give me some direction for the next few months, here's a list of stuff i must, might or hope to do this summer, which i will try to keep updated as time goes by :)

:bulletyellow:update my budget-book
:bulletyellow:hoover my room regularly
:bulletred:go shopping in Camden
:bulletred:rewrite Glass House as a waltz
:bulletred:finish 'new' song Fox and Cat (with band)
:bulletred:sew dress pattern (from last summer)
:bulletred:create an orange dress (i've had the material for 2 years now :O)
:bulletred:make a River dress
:bulletred:turn 24
:bulletred:think of a topic for my final year dissertation
:bulletred:get a job (maybe)
:bulletred:record with WtCDi
:bulletred:experiment with effects on Squirrel (my keyboard) and feedback
:bulletred:learn to play violin (involves getting my hands on a violin first)
:bulletred:start watching Stargate
:bulletgreen:buy a new bra that actually fits (honestly, the amount of trouble this is proving to be, you'd think i was a strange shape: there is nothing wrong with my body thankyou very much! grr.)--yay for M&S :w00t:
:bulletred:fix my dreamcatcher (it keeps letting bad dreams through atm)
:bulletorange:finish 'new' song Pretty Fragile
:bulletyellow:tidy my room
:bulletorange:watch all of Battlestar Galactica
:bulletorange:adapt Discordant for Symphonic Rock Orchestra
:bulletorange:finish adapting BoRhap for SRO
:bulletorange:rehearse and gig lots with WtCDi
:bulletorange:get Squirrel fixed (the middle C's broken)
:bulletorange:get Robin (my guitar) insured
:bulletorange:sort out the house contract for next year
:bulletgreen:fix my little black bag
:bulletorange:learn to listen to the layers in music
:bulletorange:improve my guitar playing by playing on Robin regularly
:bulletorange:hang out with my friends
:bulletorange:be part of a research group at uni investigating improvisation

now let's see how many of those little dots i can turn green :eager:

  • Mood: Tired
  • Listening to: Grammatics
  • Reading: That Hideous Strength - C.S.Lewis
  • Watching: Buffy season 2 finale
  • Playing: Robin
  • Eating: crips
  • Drinking: why? what have you heard?

Jeebies. Perhaps I should do something like this. I generally don't like thinking of all the things I should get done and instead paradoxically sit and drink beer while playing neopets. O_o

I'm getting my boyfriend through his first watch through Buffy. It's probably my 8th. We're midway through s2 right now. Just watched Lie to Me .

Every time I think of the end of this season I lose my ability to breathe. So perfectly tragic.

i have the same problem: every summer i have all these things i want to do, but because i'm lazy i tend to...not. so i figured if i write it down and make it all pretty with colours and points i can tick off it might actually happen :D

i just finished watching Becoming2 20 mins ago (4th time?) *sob* as you say, perfectly tragic. i'm quite glad the first time i saw it was on dvd, because it meant i could immediately find out what happened next, rather than spending a summer in suspense, moping over the doomedness of life and love ;)

Yeah, you're lucky. I started watching from the very first episode (I was 7 years old, haha) and had to follow the syndication schedule. It was awful. At the same time, though, I'm glad I was forced into doing it that way. When you have to wait at least a week between episodes (and much more than that between seasons!) you get a better sense of time passing. And the anticipation is incredible, the revelations more impacting. It is terrible, though.

7?! my parents wouldn't let me watch it back then, cos it gave my 10-year old sister nightmares :( true, you can argue it both ways. First time round me and my (other) sister marathoned the last 6 episodes of season 2--talk about emotional overload (not to mention square eyes) :faint: afterwards we ruled no more than 3 eps a day and no more than 2 eps without a break :XD:
